According to VirusTotal, most security software finds it to be safe.

I installed Project64 into a sandbox and nothing seems amiss. It doesn't offer to install anything else, and doesn't do so as far as I can see.
Others have mentioned that the 1.6 version doesn't cause the AV conflict.
