That sounds right, there's a 1 hour timeout that I can't raise. That's never been a problem but I guess I need to find away around it now. In the meantime perhaps I can add support for download resuming.

That made a difference. Three attempts today failed at 2.0 - 2.43 GB; the variance can be accounted for by traffic conditions. If you have a timeout set at around one hour, that would explain it. The download is probably working now for anyone with a connection ~15 Mbit or faster.
