Open the ZSNES folder and delete the .cfg files, then run ZSNES and load the game.
If that doesn't work, go to the ZSNES site and download their zip file. Extract it to your Documents folder and put a copy of the game ROM inside the ZSNES folder. Now try running the game from there.

No, actually I use ZSNES. I made sure the input/device was on keypad/gamepad.
