Re: I may buy a new 360 at that price.

Lots of online places are already selling them at the reduced price.

Frys.com has the arcade system for $199. Shipping for me would be $9, but that would actually be less than the taxes I would have to pay if I bought it in store. Amazon and CircuitCity.com have them too.

Mine died about a year ago and I never bought another. MS implemented the 4 year "3RLOD" warranty as SOON as my warranty expired, and I had already tampered with it myself trying to fix it.

I actually had it working for another 5 months or so, but it crapped out on me again. People try to blame most 360 failures on overheating . However I think the 3RLOD problem is caused by the soldering that connects the CPU and GPU to the mainboard.

MS released a new 360 revision using a 65 nm fabrication process that was supposed to reduce 360 failures. Last I heard there is still a 15% failure rate among the new consoles.

Still, $199 is a good price point since I still have my old harddrive and controllers. As long as MS continues their 3RLOD warranty I'll have no need to tamper with this one.
