Legend of Dragoon Disc 1

Hello,
My Legend of Dragoon game is great, but I am having an issue. When I enter certain rooms, the game just won't proceed to load anything. It goes to a black screen with the music in the background. I can normally avoid those rooms, but this time it is a place I have to go in order to proceed with the story. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
