Lunar 2: Eternal Blue ROM freezes on disc 1

I'm currently playing this on my PSP...during the escape from the blue spire, right before the cutscene where Lucia sees the statue of Althena, the screen fades to black, and that's it. Game locks up. Any solution to this?
