I played this game on a whim, never having heard of it before. I was unusually pleased with what I got. This game is a gem in the genre of sidescrolling shooters.

Graphics: 9
One of this game's strongest points, the graphics are best described as "classy." The graphics, reminiscent of those found in big arcade games, surpass most other SNES games. The backgrounds are absolutely fantastic and most of the enemies are very well drawn and animated. When you first start the game you'll be surprised by the graphic quality, but after a few minutes it will just sink in and you'll be a part of this futuristic battle field. Oh, the cutscene at the end looks really stupid, but honestly, who plays a game called 'Cybernator' to watch the hero hug his girlfriend after he saves the world?

Sound: 9
Another strong point of the game. The sound of the vulcan weapon is really great. The other weapon sounds are fairly standard but quite appropriate. The other sounds made by your battlemech, the jetpack effect and various other effects are quite nuanced and very well done. The background music is catchy and unlike so many other games not at all annoying.

Gameplay: 7
The game's weakest point, but let me stress, this is only because it's not very original. That does not mean it's bad. The game controls are nothing new to players of sidescrolling shooters but hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? The only negative point of the gameplay is that in certain types of stages aiming is a pain in th' butt. Make sure you know how to use the 'hold' command before you play.

Fantastic graphics, great sound and familiar gameplay... The game has pretty good replay value as well. You can play this game through a number of times before getting sick of it.

If you want a truly quality game that you can play through in less than two hours, Cybernator is your game.
