A great game, Utopia puts you in the position of governor over a colony on some distant planet from Earth, where you build the colony into a bustling metropolis, while defending against enemy aliens. You put your people to work producing goods and building war machinery to trade with Earth and fight the aliens. A very good strategy game, when I was a kid I would rent this game and keep it for a couple weeks at a time!

Graphics: 7
Ok, graphics aren't fabulous but good for SNES. A tile-based system is used, but for the time period, everything used tile-systems. The buildings look pretty cool though and the terrain is definitely spacial.

Sound: 8
I like some of the music tracks, so I give it an 8. They're all pretty catchy, and appropriate for the galactic setting. The sounds also will indicate to you that you are under attack, so keep the volume on!!

Gameplay: 9
Wonderful gameplay, lots of fun, with replay value a 9 if I could give it one. Lots of different scenarios, many of them very difficult, so you'll be spending lots of time mastering all of the levels. Try the beginner one if you're uncertain.

Overall: 8
A great game, what more is there to say? I really enjoy the monthly income system, the day-based turn system, and trading with Earth. You can micromanage your production pretty well, or you can let the computer defaults take charge. Fighting is hard to do well, as you won't control the vehicles really, but it is easy to invade the enemy's city. And fun!!

I recommend this game to someone who enjoys strategy games like Civilization, Sim City, and the like. Try it if you are interested in science fiction, space, or wargames as you may like it too.
