Pilotwings 64 in the 90's was a dream come true. For the first time in Nintendo's history you could fly in a real 3D environment!

Graphics: 9
The graphics are excellent, but for me they lacked color, so I always saturated my CRT Tv back then, other then that it is fairly detailed and even somewhat cozy.

Sound: 9
The music is wonderfully made, it has many nice fitting tracks which give off a kind of nice vibe, some are very relaxing.

Gameplay: 9
The gameplay consists of clearing given objectives by flying rightly with different vehicles of which the helicopter was my favourite one. The better your scores the more you unlock and you also can try to get a perfect score just to beat your own records. Then there is also a birdman flying mode where the player can take pictures and relax while flying. I loved this game tremendously because it let you fly and had an 80's, early 90's feel to it. Naturally the game lacks story and there is almost no interaction with NPC's and no multiplayer, but the PERFECT controls of it makes up for that by giving you the feeling of really flying around and achieving certain goals like taking a picture nicely for instance. There is also a miniature version of the USA which was really nice to fly through. One of my favourite things was to hunt a robot which I later understood was a reference to Mecha Godzilla.

Overall: 9
Overall it was a very nice game to have. If you are into flying missions you will have much fun with this game. I recommend this game to be played with a friend so you can switch controllers and watch each other fly, trying to get a good score. This is much fun.

This game is a classic. It is not a typical Nintendo game as it does not feature cute or fantasy characters like Mario and Link, instead it featured in my opinion figures that could have inspired the future Miis of the Wii. Realistic but also cute and warm, this gives the game a certain feeling which I would describe as a cool coziness.
