That's probably not going to change and it is ok.
I think this measure is implementend because Vimm's proabably host on a modest server that needs to respond to all the requests and is just easier to do it this way.
Also, it kind of provides a small, extra layer of security againts DoS attacks and finally I think if people could download everything at once, traffick will decrease not to mention that copycats will emerge replicating the website just to make quick money from ads.
