I think its interesting that you could modify the Atari Flashback 2 to play original 2600 cartridges.
You'd basically want the emulated ROMs to look as good as when they were first seen, and the best way to do that is to skip blocky-ness you'll see in many emulators and just try home game consoles like Power Games.
There's also the Atari Flashback 2, but avoid the Atari Flashback 1. It shamelessly tries to get by with Nintendo-based hardware. That doesn't cut it for games like Yar's Revenge, which are legendary for their impressive, atmospheric sound.
