This, as well as the fact that iirc lots of arcade games have multiple different versions.

It's Vimm's call, but I think Neo Geo is a far more practical task than MAME, which covers a much broader range of games, and has a long list of different ROM dumps that make tracking down the right ROMs a gruelling task; several MAME versions, several different dumps of the same games, and they change again as MAME keeps getting updated. Very frustrating.
