How to fix flashing screen on start of game? PCSX

Hi. I have decided to try out PCSX for my Playstation 1 games, since epsxe has been a POS with my controller configurations as of late. Fortunately, PCSX has proven to be more controller friendly, but I seem to have ran into another issue.
When starting up an emulation of the Legend of Dragoon, the very first screen that shows (the one before the intro video) flashes black and white. I have been trying different graphic configurations without any success. Anyone else run into this?
