External downloaders compatibility?

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to use an external downloader such as free download manager to manage downloads instead of the browser.
I've already tried with FDM but it prompts me to provide an authorisation. I tried using my login credentials for this message board but it didn't work. I don't have any clues on what to do
