It was literally the only ROM I had downloaded at the time. Maybe it matters that I am using hakchi to load them onto the Nintendo Classic Mini. Since trying Contra I've done many other ones without issue.

Yeah well then you opened the wrong file with your emulator. The one in The Vault is the US version
