Vimm has had the entire NES vault removed at least once in the past, though that was many years ago. He's taken some steps to try and fly farther under the radar. One of the reasons you see most requests for more modern systems or roms go unanswered is because of a policy Vimm holds to only carry games that are out of date by at least two systems.
That doesn't mean Nintendo or some other company won't ever bring the hammer down. So who knows, really.

Just wanted to ask what the future of vimms is looking like? With them absolutely destroying that guy with $150,000 fine per rom. What does this mean for game preservation? Its tragic to watch a multi billion dollar industry complain about rom sharing of classic games that hobbyists would like to preserve. I almost never play them but feel happy knowing I have multiple copies
