DeSmuME (Trading+Pokemon)

Stopped off on fire red back in the day and decided to try out platinum. Is there anyway to trade between two Desmume emu's for something like kadabra, hunter, graveler, ect.. Been looking stuff up and haven't had much luck, pretty much saying it's impossible unless you use melon. Half way through and I don't wanna start over tbh.
