Apologies everyone! It appears the N64 emulator has a "fully manual" and "fully automatic" setting.

Putting it into "fully automatic" caused the buttons to work fine!

I'll look over the Project 64 settings and see if there's anything similar.

Here is an interesting problem, I don't think there's anything you can do about it, but I thought I'd bring it up.

My daughter's controller broke, so I gave her my wired XBox/Windows 10 controller and ordered a new one for myself off of Amazon.

I don't have the specifics. It works with every other emulator you provide, NES, PS1, SEGA, etc. EXCEPT for the Nintendo 64!

The 64 Project and M64 BOTH appear to recognize the controller. I go into the settings and I can set up each of the buttons just the way I want. THEN, I go to play a game, and almost NONE of the buttons do ANYTHING. (I say "almost" because ONE button seems to work, it's usually the "fire" button for whatever game I'm playing, but that's the only button that seems to DO anything!)
