Re: PSCX2 - Playstation - Sly 2 - not working

"Slow Motion happening in certain areas of the game
Status: Active
Type: Minor
Description: When in certain areas or when certain things are on screen at the same time the speed drops for some reason causing the game to feel like its in slow motion
Workaround: Under speedhacks slide the VU Cycle Stealing to the right until the issue no longer happens.
Note: No noticable side effects from this. Also this was tested on PCSX2 1.4.0 with EE Cyclerate set to 2 with Enable fast CDVD on. GSdx was also using the SSE41 plugin with the following settings Dx11(hw), internal resolution 3x, Texture Filtering Nearest, Full CRC. HW hacks were Alpha and Alpha stencil with Preload Data Frame and sprite set to half. Graphics card being a RX 460 and the CPU model was a ryzen 1500x

Update: If the above does not help, setting the Clamping Mode option in the VUs menu under Emulation Settings to 'Extra' seems to help a great deal. Note that this issue is compounded by higher internal resolutions under your video plugin setting, so set the clamping mode and then reduce the internal resolution setting until the game runs consistently at full speed. This bug is worse in 1.7.0 build."

I specifically try to link the entire page so people read through it in case there are multiple problems, but just so you know nated, it's best you check up the game's emulator wiki page if you're having problems. Might find a fix, might not.

Did you actually try any of the workarounds listed on the wiki page? Seems like you're assuming the problem is with the rom, but you haven't described any troubleshooting you've done to ensure it isn't simply an issue on your machine.

When it comes to emulation, specs don't necessarily determine how well a game runs, so don't get too hung up on the idea that more demanding games aren't giving you issues. One of the strongest rigs on that wiki page reports slowdown during gameplay, and one of the three "known issues" listed toward the bottom addresses a similar complaint.

I've personally had issues with PCSX2 that had zero to do with system specs or roms themselves. Silent Hill 3 would not run properly for me until applying an FMV workaround listed on the PSCX2 wiki, as an example. Your mileage may vary, but it helps to start isolating the problem on your end first regardless.
