Windows 3.1 programs run in 16-bit mode, and such modes are locked out of Windows 7 and Windows Vista. I don't know if the same is true of Windows 8 though, which was said to be released a few days back.

They seem pretty legit to me. Judging from the early artwork they have really nailed it as far as atmosphere and graphics are concerned.
My favorite version is probably the old windows 3.1 version. However I recently tried to run it in windows 7 but it could not get it to work at all without using virtual XP mode.
