Time for a behind the scenes update at Vimm's Lair.

First off a disk that was acting up for several months has finally been replaced. Vimm's Lair was down for several evenings and a full day while the belligerent disk was interrogated. It eventually cracked though many manuals and screen shots were lost. Most are backed up and are being gradually restored.

The Vault has been updated with loads of publisher and serial data courtesy of GameFaqs. This also revealed several unlabeled SNES games that are actually unreleased prototypes, as well as a few European and Mexican releases which have been removed. Most people don't care about serials, but it's handy to identify a game since different sites often use different titles. The NES, Genesis, and handheld systems are up next.

With the release of Wii U the GameCube is now two generations old and eligible for inclusion in The Vault. A GameCube section is in the works and the current plan is to open it once all games have been cataloged, then to fill in the downloads alphabetically. Despite its commercial ranking the GameCube managed to release quite a few games and the Dolphin emulator handles many of them quite well if your computer is powerful enough.
