On the bright side, any GotY, Legendary, or whatever "final" edition of a game usually included all existing patches in their DLC or something like that, so those versions would be the fully patched ones.
That's a "new" concept so I don't know yet. I'd need some way to validate the DLC is accurate and complete. PS3 games were often shipped with day one patches so I'd like to at minimum include the final version.
