How to fix 'a' button on Pokemon Emerald?

Hello, when i play Pokemon Emerald on the VisualBoyAdvance The A button pushes down too hard which makes it difficult to type/navigate in the game, one press of the A button counts as 3 presses and it is quite hard to manoeuvre the game. Is there a fix for this?
