it was installed into my programs file yes, and under the C drive. I save a state and like i said it only saves for a minimal amount of time before deleting itself. i shift+f10, save, close the game and come back an hour later to see my file missing. and i did not change any emulator settings.

OK where did you install it? Did you use the default path, like this?

Where are your ROMs saved? Your save states (Shift + F10) are saved in the same folder as your ROMs. And did you change any of the settings in the emulator or is it still using default setting?
