Sure, it may keep you anonymous from your internet provider, but that data will instead be going to the VPN provider, and whilst they are secure (if made properly), they can be shady and, like all software, not perfect. I'm pretty sure NordVPN got hacked in 2018, with it then getting leaked in 2019 since they didn't tell anyone. Could be wrong though.
My original idea was if you were to go into a website for roms to download could a vpn help keep you anonymous from your internet provider or others in order to reduce the chance of getting into trouble?
