Because most people in life are set on believing their opinions until they get new proof that can absolutely 100% change their minds. People can hear all positive things about something and still not change their mind - no matter how many times you say downloading old games is like buying them used or that the makers of the games don't suffer, they'll still believe it's wrong. It's just human nature, really.
But why can't we change their minds, after all, pirating Goldeneye isn't really a big deal if I can't get the games on steam, right?
