This might link to the fact that Vimm used to alter the Rom's/ISO's. Though on Reddit someone might have mentioned that he doesn't do it anymore replaced the Roms with unaltered ones, so that's strange.
Then again, there are a few instances when users have complained about hashes even now from what I can recall.

The page for Final Fantasy 1 https://vimm.net/vault/316 claims the CRC for the ROM is "cebd2a31". I checked the downloaded file and it's actually "AB12ECE6". I found a page on this site claiming the hashes are generated based on the files, but that seems to be untrue. How many of the hashes listed on this site are bullshit?
