NCAA football 14 xbox controller being wonky

Whenever i try and use my xbox controller on the game the left stick doesnt work and it like skips over 2 boxes on the home screen or i need to hit it multiple times before it moves. I've tried 2 different controllers and downloaded the whole scp server thing as recommended on the wiki.
