Re: 8-Bit Retro Entertainment System $15

I didn't know about these, but turned this up:

Wikipedia- NES Clones

"Some of Nintendo's patents on the Famicom expired in 2003, followed in 2005 by NES-specific patents such as those covering the 10NES lockout chip. While Nintendo still holds various related trademarks, NES hardware clones are no longer necessarily illegal on the basis of patent infringement."

"...the newly legitimized market has seen several clones that openly advertise support for original Famicom or NES games, or sometimes both, a feature not usually publicized by previous clones."

from Buy.com, a knockoff NES system that plays your original NES cartridges for $15. 8-But Retro NES TopLoader.

I wonder what the quality of the product is like. Also, does this mean that Nintendo let the patent expire on their retro system?
