The Ubuntu Linux Dial-Up Download Challenge!

Posted by Tarbolde on .
Whew... got so deep in the zone that I forgot to report that the original terms of the challenge have been met.
Ubuntu wasn't too bad to download; it dropped a few times and corrupted twice.

Bulletproof.

The JULinux download isn't going as easily, I'll admit.
It corrupted an unusual amount of times, prompting me to take the unprecedented step
of switching servers mid-download (from mindblowingidea over to linuxfreedom).

But for today, honor (and Linux) has been served. Maybe they'll think twice before discounting the tenacity of dial-up users again.

The last word should go to the real champ of this contest: my trusty Win Modem.

If you mean Ubuntu, then to join this contest you'll need to locate and successfully download a single file that is 195 GB in size in order to place competitively.

The title of this thread originally read: The Ubuntu Linux Dial-Up Download Challenge!

Some meaning was lost along with the HTML tags that get removed when a post is submitted (I was embarrassed to discover).

Challenge!

This is about roughing it.

That also might have been clearer if I hadn't omitted the 'Internet Road Warrior' section, but the piece was already running long.

Godspeed,
