If your machine has USB 2.0 slots or lower, there might be an issue; USB 3.0 is pretty much the standard nowadays. It's not a bad thing for you is you want to stock up on thumb drives and don't mind lack of speed; I picked up a pair of Lexar 64 GB thumb drives, but I paid a lot less for them because they were USB 2.0.

I've been considering getting one of those gizmos to assist in salvaging the 320 GB HD, which still has its demons with being recognized. My understanding is that the USB device accesses the drive through the OS rather than through the BIOS, so I thought there was a chance it might work better that way.
