I first ran into this game not knowing what to expect, what an RPG was, basically a complete newcomer to the SNES and had only a few sports games and mario (of course). This game, i must say, revolutionized the way I play games and is the main reason why I absolutely love RPGs above all other genre.

While the graphics aren't great (as a matter of fact they're nothing compared to what is out now), they are still enough to keep you entertained and will not deter your gaming experience. It does provide for a rather simple interface which gives the gameplay value a boost, but other than that don't expect great graphics.

I personally loved the sound. Although it is that catch, and perhaps eventually annoying RPG-ish sound that seems to accompany all RPGs these days, I see it to be rather fitting to the environment, and gives you that sense of, ""Ok, now that he's dead, what's my next adventure????"" (in other words it makes you want to adventure further into the game

I have to admit that the plot isn't terribly original. The story of the dragon-knights and things like that were interesting, but they could have come up with a different number of levels for each dungeon. It kind of lets you know that the end it coming. Other than that the gameplay is great, with not only monster-hacking, but riddles and puzzles to solve, while trying to get out of the dark maze while blasting creepy crawlies as you go. Like i said the top view, like Zelda, provides for a rather easy to use interface. Most importantly is the magic and the jade fairies. They are the two main reasons why this game is unique. Oh yeah, and don't forget the gladiator arena where you can battle others to get more money (probably my main source of income).

Overall: 10
I was always wondering whether or not they would come out with a Brain Lord 64, or one for the PS2 or Dreamcast. Then I thought harder about it and realized that it wouldn't work. The graphics are supposed to be cheap, with the gameplay taking the game on it's shoulders. This game is perhaps one of the best RPGs I have yet to encounter.

This game is one of the classic RPGs that will always be one of a kind.
