Breath of Fire is an RPG it isn't good as the Final Fantasy series or Chrono Trigger, and I'm not going to compare this game to others but this game is still fun to play.

The plot is that two gangs (they're not gangs but I like to call them that)called Light and Dark Dragons are having as endless battle over a god who can grant wishes. Then a Hero rises and with his 7 friends tries stop lock the god for good. (The Hero is a Light Dragon.)

Graphics: 7
The Graphics are good not amazing but good. The monsters look ok and bosses look good especially the bosses at the end of the game. The world which you walk around (outside) isn't very detailed but still good.

Sound: 6
The music is ok. When you play the game a lot you'll start to memorize it and then it gets boring and repetitive.

I'll also have to say the same for the sound effects from when you slash an enemy and that explosion after you finish off certain bosses.
They all sound the same.

Gameplay: 7
The gameplay is good, like how the Hero can change into different dragon forms (nine in all) and some party members can hunt for meat for health and another can transform into a bird and fly almost anywhere to find secret items and weapons.

Each character uses diffent types of weapons (like Chrono Trigger) the Hero uses swords and boomerangs, and others uses either bows, daggers, hammers, etc. The batle system is turn based. And there's sort of a sign language to figure out to access to magic or item menu.

There's lot's of other minor flaws I could go on about but that would just take up time.

Overall: 7
The graphics are good not superior but good. The sound/music could've been worked on a bit longer and the gameplay is good so overall it's a 7. And you can play this game over and over again.

Trust me I own this game.

If you like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger then play Breath of Fire.

It isn't as good but still fun to play.

Plot/Storyline: Both aren't that bad, it kept me going in the game, and I'll leave it at that.

Graphics: Not that great of graphics, but not too bad for around the time it was made.

Sound: Music and sound effects weren't really impressive, but they didn't SUCK.

Fighting got annoying at many parts in the game, and the weird thing with "You take out all the boss' HP and he still lives for another few rounds for some reason" was kinda stupid, I mean, just give him more HP if he's gonna live ;P

Some parts got confusing on what you were supposed to do too.....but it wasn't too bad.

Plot: The plot in this game is decent. Nothing outstanding. But it sustains your interest enough to keep playing.

Graphics: The graphics in this game are pretty good, but the battle graphics are what really stand out. They are really colorful. The spells however, do not make much use of the SNES's graphics engine. They do not use multiple graphic layers. And are pretty bland.

Sound: The sound in this game is decent also. It is okay, but it gets a little annoying after a while. There are several different tracks.

Gameplay: Well, this is an RPG, and therefore there is not much game to play.
The controlls are fairly simple, you walk around and fight things, like little spikey heads. And rabbit heads with huge feet. The battle system is menu based, you pick what you want to do, and it happens! Not too tough. That is the extent of the gameplay.

Replay Value: Well, this game, as with most RPG's, is fun the first time, then sucks. Just wait a while, like a looooong while, and play it again. It should be fun again.

Overall: This is a pretty good game, and i reccommend that any RPG fans should at least try it.
