A well thought out game. Though the progression is somewhat slow, and the battles can get redundant in a hurry, the storyline is well thought out and the graphics are better than normal for the system.

Graphics: 8
Not bad graphically, though later games overshadowed it with what they could offer on the same system. It actually has texturing and apparent layering in them, not uncommon for a game where attention was paid to detail.

Sound: 9
The music score is quite well theme based, giving you the sense of emotion, tension, and so on throughout the game. While later games and systems would give better for the programming, the fact that the music was as well done as it was gives it a charm of its own.

Gameplay: 8
There are a few bugs in it, such as the relatively slow pace, but it has a lot of user friendly things to it. The controls are easy, the screens easy to read, and there is some replayability to it.

Overall: 8
There are some improvements that could have been made overall, but a good game. The slow pace and annoyingly frequent battles are its biggest problem. Fortunately, you can get beyond that with a little patience.

Probably the best SNES game, and quite possibly the best videogame ever made. This game totally blows all competetion out of the water.

Graphics: 7
Although they are simple, over-head graphics, the appearance is still spectacular, and the battle graphics are wonderful.

Sound: 8
The soundtrack is truly a delight. It seems to complement the game perfectly. The music in the Grand Church of St. Eva, for example, is wonderfully chosen.

Gameplay: 10
The game controls are a breeze to learn, the plot is incredably deep, and the character development has been payed attention to particularly. There are no loose ends after at the end of this game, and the storyline just seems to flow perfectly. The dialog is a little iffy, mainly because of a VERY poor japanese-to-english translation, but even with the bad translation, the game is still wonderful.

Overall: 10
Although I know my scores don't add up to 10, I will still rate this game 10. I rate it this mainly because of the incredably deep, involving plot, and because this is just one of those games that when you play, time simply seems to disappear.

In short, Breath of Fire II is, as I stated at the top, quite possibly the best game ever made. If it isn't, than it certainly is towards the top of the list.

Plot: Well, the plot in this one is an improvement on the last one. It is pretty cool. It actually has.....twists! Oh goody.

Graphics: Hah! Another step up! This game has more colorful graphics than the last one. And they are more crisp. The battle graphics are again the high point. And the spells in this one have texture! Yay! And the dragon attacks are the best! Check out the G. Dragon (Kaiser Dragon in jap i think).

Sound: This games sound is, yet another step up from the last one. This games sound seems more clear, and does not get annoying. Through the game, the battle music seems to change, which is a nice touch. The music suits the location it is played in. Like the cave music, for instance.

Gameplay: RPG. If you have played any of the FF series, you will know what I mean. This game does not have a lot of game to play! Much like the last one. But this time, you can fish and hunt in "hunting" and "fishing" scenarios. Which do require a "little" skill. Still, with one arm, you could probably do it.

Replay Value: This game has greater replay value than the first in the saga. Sadly, this is not much. Unless you dont play it for a year or so.

Overall: This is a great game. If you are a SNES RPG fan, this is a must.
