| Six Flags Fun Park – A game I played as a small child, which I recently replayed. It's a collection of small minigames wrapped up in an RPG package. In my opinion, this game is very overhated – it only received a 4.5/10 from IGN! In this review, I hope to express what I like about this game. (Note, as of writing, I've never played the DS version, so this review may not be applicable to that game)
Graphics: 7 The graphics are more than adequate. They aren't great, but they get the job done. They are very cartoonish in style, and this in no small part contributes to the whimsical nature of the game. But in all, they aren't anything special. However the themes of the five areas, Hometown Square, Fright Fest, Hurrican Harbor, Astro City, and Funville, have themes that I feel are fairly well executed. Sound: 7 The soundtrack of this game fares decently well, however music doesn't play throughout the full game. Primarily in or around the minigame areas. There's really not a whole lot to talk about here, so I guess I'll end by saying that it isn't bad at all. In fact, it can be fairly good. Gameplay: 8 I enjoy this game a fair bit. The motion controlled gameplay, (the whole game) isn't executed the best I've ever seen, but it's still fun for me. Lots of people don't like motion controls at all, usually me as well, but this game manages to keep my interest in a way I'll explain in the next segment. I feel that, all-in-all, the minigames are quite fun to play. And, since those are the meat of the game, this is a pretty good game. (This game is more of a 7.5/10 to me, but you can't do that on Vimm's) Overall: 7 Some common notes of hate on this game are its generic mingames, long loading times, and frame drops. You have to give credit, though. RPG minigame collections aren't the most common type of game, so this game does stand out a fair bit. In conclusion, this game has a magnetic charm to it that makes me enjoy the game even more, and I feel it's a compound of 3 main things: the cartoonish graphics, enjoyable music, and simple minigames that make me enjoy the game. No matter how much you say this game is bad, it's not gonna cease my enjoyment. And, me enjoying the game is the most important part. Why? Because videogames are all about enjoying yourself. And that's what I do when playing this game. |
