The best multiplayer vehicular carnage for the N64!

Graphics: 7
It certainly shows its age, as one of the N64's older titles, but the graphics can still hold their own. Not much to be said of them, really. Looked great in 1999 on your old Zenith CRT from the 80's, doesn't look so great on a cheap LCD TV from Hong Kong.

Sound: 8
Folks, I have to pull you aside real quick and really bring it home for you about this game's sounds. As you nuke, machine gun, and vehicular assault your friends, your car's driver hurls insults at your opponents', while a delightful, yet somehow sinister disco tune blares.

The cars' crashing, exploding, creaking, clanking, screeching, and scraping sounds really put you there in the arena. Missiles squealing, Gatling guns cranking, grenade launchers going *FOOMP* and most of all, THINGS GOING BOOM!

Gameplay: 9
Friends, believe me when I say you will have a blast playing this with your friends. That is, if anyone still has 3 friends anymore whom they can convince to all come over and play video games on the same screen.

In multiplayer mode, up to 4 players can square off in a vehicular battle-royale. Many of you might be familiar with the longer-running, and certainly more popular Twisted Metal series on Play Station (and maybe even the Dreamcast?)

This is basically that, but the characters are actually more entertaining, and none of them are creepy clowns! You drive around, you kill each other. You manage to wreck someone's car, and then you total it so they can't recover!

Overall: 8
Vigilante 8, gets an 8, cuz it's so great, to play with your mates!

I can't tell you enough what fun I used to have playing this game all night with my cousins. The matches go fast enough that nobody's fussing over a turn; you can go and have cake with your grandparents and then come back after a slice to play some more; MAN, the 90's were just a better time.
