Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a great game. It's definitely the best on the NES, and quite possibly one of the best of all time.

Graphics: 7
The graphics look fairly decent for an 8-bit game. Indy could be better; he looks like a park ranger. The backgrounds are pretty good, though, with distinctive areas (Ground, lava, conveyor belts, ect.) and it's pretty clear as to what everything is.

Sound: 5
The sound here is okay. The music is sub-par, but it's not half-bad, at least not for an NES game. The sound effects aren't bad, but they're not superb, either.

Gameplay: 7
The gameplay is pretty dang good. You're supposed to go around collecting the enslaved children, and I have fun doing so. It can be a pain getting to them, as you have to go through many doors and many minecarts to get to them. The controls need work, though. The main problem is with Indy's jumping. if you jump in place, you go to the bottom. You always have to hold a certain direction of the d-pad to jump with out falling, but it's still a pain. Selecting your weapons could also be better. What you need to do is press the select button and hold a certain direction of the d-pad to select the desired weapon. This isn't bad, but it can be awkward in circumstances. I just prefer not to use the weapons and just stay with the whip.

This game isn't bad. I don't care what AVGN or Irate Gamer say about it, it's pretty good. I can't recommend it however, because it does seem a lot of people hate it. I would for sure try it out before you consider buying it. Overall, a pretty darn good game.

Definitely give this game a try. You may hate it, you may like it, but that's up to you. See you later!
