Paper Mario TTYD Demos

I'm attempting to emulate the two demos of Paper Mario TTYD using Dolphin (which are on Gamecube demo discs 18 and 20) but I can't get either of them to recognize any of my inputs. I tested a few of the other games included on each disc (Pikmin 2 and Mario Power Tennis in case anyone cares), those ones work and recognize my inputs, but for TTYD all I can do is press A or start on the title screen and then nothing. Can't select a level to try or even mouse over a different one, very weird. I know this might be a long shot due to how niche it is but has this happened to anyone else and how did you fix it?
