I've considered that but who decides the genres? Every site has different criteria.
Before Emuparadise was unceremoniously forced to take down all of its ROM downloads, one was able to browse ROMs by genre. (One can still browse in this way, but the downloads just aren't there anymore.) Is it possible in the near future to add a browse by genre feature into the Vault?
