Re: Technique to create the manuals

AFAIK, the manuals are run through a scanner to create these files. To be honest, I haven't seen a PDF-to-VLM convertor anywhere, and I really don't know how the VLM format works.
I think Vimm might have elaborated the VLM format a while back, but I probably passed by it without realizing what it described.
Vimm, I don't suppose I could ask you to describe the VLM format for us? :-)

As far as I saw, the manuals on this site are created dynamically. I can choose the resolution and the type (PDF or VLM) and then a program creates the manual for me. I'd like to know now:
1. Which technique is used to do this? Which program converts the manuals?
2. Which one is the original source? Obviously the manuals are not stored as PDF files, but also the VLM files have to be built at first. So, am I right when I assume that the original files are the simple JPG images that are shown when you choose "View manual"?
I would be really grateful if someone could help me here.
