unless simple64 is a fork of the compromised version of project64, you should be fine with using it.
if you really want to move to a new emulator entirely, there is Parallel Launcher which is what i use. It also lets you use virtual SD cards, should you have a ROM that needs it (like Mario Builder 64).

I heard that project 64 is apparently a pretty bad choice for an emulator cause a malicious rom hack would be able to run codes and shit from it, i personally use simple64 and i wanted to know if like, it's safe and all
