Those copyright laws were formed in a different time when older games were easier to get dirt cheap and even big name companies were making countless collections on physical discs. The only thing companies had to worry about back then were bootleggers selling their games on the black market, regardless of how poor the quality of those bootlegs were. Ironically the ones who made all those wonderful games are pretty much boomers now who are going by that old mindset that our emulating their games is no different than those cheap bootleggers. Even if those games aren't sold anymore and we add all kinds of nice enhancements. We're not damaging the brands really. We're drawing more attention to them. What if some new kid wants to try out the Mother series and then after emulating one of the games decides to buy them OH WAIT. Dangit Nintendo! Give us a Mother collection!!!

Annoying companies who don't make a dime off old games demand that no one play them unless they sold them 20 years ago. Sucks but its their right. Copyright laws are stupid.
