Playing PS2 games from a BD-R part 2...

Posted by LaSamourai on .
Hello again!
Firstly, I'd like to thank SOULSHOCK for originally answering this question when I first posed it in a different way several months ago. Per the extremely helpful insight he provided, and further research stemming from what he made me aware of, I've decided my original endeavor is impractical.

So now I'm exploring an alternative... what I want to do (as I explained in my original post) is burn PS2 .ISOs onto BD-R discs so that they have better longevity due to the scratch resistance. The second step -- which I now think was originally more elaborate than it needed to be -- is emulating them on a TV FROM this Blu-Ray disc.

Originally my plan was to find a way to make these run on a PS3, so that I could have one console for all games PS1-3... but given the backwards compatibly issues, the fact trying to mod it to run them could have issues with console banning, the fact internet services to install an emulator may no longer be supported, and other problems... this seems needlessly complex and I now imagine it probably won't work (not to mention I think I may have a potential idea for an easier method).

If I wanted to burn PS2 games to BD-R discs, then RUN THEM from those discs (I prefer this to USBs, since they have longer but still limited longevity), would I'm thinking could be potentially easier is hooking them up to a Blu-Ray Player or BD Drive. Would it be possible to install an emulator capable of running PS2 games onto a Blu-Ray Player or BD Drive, then run a game from a BD-R disc on said device? Although potentially complex, I figure this could be a simpler and more practical solution than what I was trying to do before.

Thank you to anyone who responds!
