While I'm not Vimm, I'd suggest torrent files. BitTorrent is my personal choice as far as Windows-based torrent programs go, and torrent programs are specifically designed for downloading larger files.
If you use Ubuntu (preferably version 12.04; 12.10 was too glitchy for me), it'll have its own torrent program installed by default, although other programs are available. It's also the safest and fastest route if you're concerned about viruses, spyware, and download speed in general.
I don't have much Mac experience, so I can't give any real recommendations there. :-(

Hey Vimm - I was curious if there was any place to download compilations of files. I've got some free hard drive space and was interested in downloading entire systems available games. Just a thought - I suppose I can download click by click, but I was curious if anything faster was out there.
