Need a walkthrough of using Paper Mario TTYD

I think I'm missing something crucial with trying to play this game.
I download the game, then extract it with 7zip, then plug it in to the latest Dolphin Emulator, but I can only get as far as the boat on the title screen. After that I get an error message that has something along the lines of "failure to read x=0000000000 something something something". Is there a step in the process I missed?
