You can choose Generation 4 (Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum) and generation 5 (White, Black, White 2, and Black 2), or the generation 2 remakes (Heart Gold, Soul Silver). I would recommend either generation 4 or 5. They are widely considered to be some of the best story and gameplay wise. Generation 5 also is widely considered to have some of the best music.
