Furthurmore USB Loader GX does not actually require any cIOS to function as it can run via IOS58 without issue if all you're running are GameCube games (this is something I did for a bit on a Wii U recently in order to determine if a given USB hard drive was compatible since the Wii U outputs less power over USB than the Wii does).
Because OP already has the homebrew channel installed - that's the only thing needed to install on your Wii to run GameCube games from either USB or SD.
(well, technically if your Wii hasn't been updated in ages, it might lack IOS58, but every Wii that starts from stock firmware v4.3 is supposed to have that already)
