It happens with big fishes like AAA games, the bigger the download the more unreliable the download process can be assumed...
Use a download manager if things always screw up with time. This kind of soft will try to keep the bandwith steady and more reliable, as for the call on server...

I think it depends on the SD card. Per chance, did you see how much space you had left on the card that you are trying to put the game onto. Plus, it is an external storage space so it may or may not recognize it
