According to a quick search, some R4 cards can't play 'DSI Enhanced' games.
Some can with an update, but I'm a bit inexperienced when it comes to R4 cards, so I wouldn't be able to help with that.
There's also a lot of different types of R4 cards, so compatibility is hit or miss with certain models/revisions.

i tried to play pokemon qonquest on my ds lite with an r4 card but the loading text became purple and the game wont boot up
