I am probably wrong, but adding a site to an adblockers whitelist will mean that said adblocker doesnt attempt to block ads. This could potentially take up resources that are needed to help you download at 500kb/s.

Also wanted to point out; I'm using adblock plus and adding your site as well as download.vimm.net to the whitelist seems to have made a difference
